The government of Belize will reopen the land borders to local and international traffic effective Monday, 7th. February 2022. Belize borders to Mexico and Guatemala has been closed for almost 2 years since the Covid Pandemic started to affect Belize in the first quarter of 2020.

The government of Belize will reopen the land borders to local and international traffic effective Monday, 7th. February 2022. Belize borders to Mexico and Guatemala has been closed for almost 2 years since the Covid Pandemic started to affect Belize in the first quarter of 2020.

Minister of Health, Kevin Bernard confirmed the long-awaited outcome last week saying that following a comprehensive discussion in Cabinet on Tuesday. It was agreed that Belize Borders be reopened effective Monday from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm, daily.

Even though no mention was made of the San Pedro Water Terminal to Chetumal and the southernmost Punta Gorda Border Water Terminal to Puerto Barrios and Honduras, the NP understand that a team of Health Specialist from the Ministry are also working on these “Borders” to include them. 

Persons wanting to take advantage of going across the borders must be fully vaccinated and will have to present the certification of the Covid Vaccines before being allowed to proceed with their crossing said Minister Bernard.
